At approximately 12:20 PM on the 12th, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred near Los Angeles, California, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The USGS initially estimated the earthquake's magnitude at 4.6 but later revised it down.

The earthquake occurred about 10.5 kilometers northeast of Los Angeles City Hall, 4 kilometers west of Highland Park, and had a depth of 12.1 kilometers.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that the earthquake was strongly felt throughout the LA area, with residents noting that glasses and dishes rattled in various locations.

The earthquake was also detected as far south as San Diego, east to the Palm Springs desert area, and north to the southern San Joaquin Valley, about 160 kilometers northwest of LA, where reports were also received.

No damage from the earthquake has been reported. The National Weather Service also stated that no tsunami was generated.
