Hyundai is recalling certain vehicles in the United States due to issues with airbag deployment.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the 31st of last month, Hyundai is conducting a recall to address issues with the airbags and electrical systems in some 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models. The potential number of affected vehicles is 49,719.

NHTSA explained that these vehicles might have an internal wiring issue that could cause the airbags to deploy unintentionally or fail to deploy in the event of an accident. The recall will be carried out by the dealers who sold the vehicles, who will inspect and repair or replace the affected parts free of charge.

Separately, Hyundai is also recalling some older Genesis Coupe vehicles in the United States. The affected vehicles are 12,612 Genesis Coupe models from 2010 to 2013.

NHTSA explained that these vehicles may have a damaged part that could cause unintended vehicle movement when starting the engine.

Dealers who sold these vehicles will replace the affected parts free of charge.

The company stated that there have been no reported accidents or injuries related to the issues in both recalls.
