GMO crops are essential not only to the United States, but to the world. While non-GMO products can be easily ruined with a few sprays of insect repellant, the GMO crops are resistant to insect repellant. Because GMO products are resistant to bug repellant, it in turn keeps away invasive insects, which allows us to grow and produce more crops.

In a world where the population is steadily rising by approximately 195,000 people a day, having enough food to feed everyone is important. Taking action before this becomes an even bigger issue is especially important because there are so many third-world countries where people have barely any food at all, let alone extra to export. For the past several decades, we have drastically increased the amount of food distributed to different countries.

However, the problem still lingers, which is why having GMO-crops can help fix this global problem. For example, the herbicide tolerant technology used on soybeans and canola had also helped in increasing crop production of some countries. In addition, GMOs allow farmers to grow an abundance of crops without having to use additional land. While those less knowledgeable about GMO crops may be afraid that they are dangerous, they do not know of the positive results GMO technology has provided throughout the half century.
